Help members of our Or Tzion community:There are times in our congregation that a congregant could use a little extra help and a meal from his/her congregational family. Sometimes it’s a meal for someone who is ill or just had surgery or a mom-to-be on bed rest. (If you are already cooking, just make an occasional double portion). Other times, it’s a ride to a doctor appointment, grocery store or to Shabbat services. We pride ourselves on being a congregation of caring members. Let’s be sure that we are always there for those in need.

If YOU are in need of some “home-cooked lovin’ “ or  need help to get to an appointment or need shopping, PLEASE email us at

If YOU are a congregant who is willing to help out time to time or even on a regular basis, please also be sure to let the office know, and we will add you to our CCC…… Chicken Soup, Chauffeur Corp, (but of course) It’s a mitzvah!

Can You Help?

Dear Congregants, We need your help with some very simple, straightforward tasks assisting with Kiddush. Can you help put out platters of plated fruit, bagels and cream cheese from the refrigerator in the kitchen after services on Saturdays when we do not have a sponsored/catered Kiddush? Please let Dennie in the office know when you may be available. You need not sign up for every weekend, but if you know you will be at services, please let us know.

Subsidized Ride Service for Seniors!

Seniors – Need a ride?

The Friedel Family Foundation Senior Transportation Fund provides private car transportation for Jewish adults over the age of 65 who are no longer able to drive themselves. All rides are provided through Envoy America, a company that provides accompanied ride services and companionship for Seniors. The Envoy America team will assist the Senior from home to the car and help as needed during the trip. Seniors can travel with friends or other Seniors at no additional cost.

The cost of a ride for the Senior will be only $5, $10, or whatever the Senior is comfortable paying. Rides can be used for any purpose, including Jewish events, the theater, doctor appointments, grocery store, visit family members or friends, or other destinations.  For a home bound Senior, or one with limited mobility options, the chance to get out and about can be a life changing event. As Mrs. R told us, “The program is a gift to the Jewish Seniors of the Phoenix area. I can now schedule my doctor appointments on my own schedule and not have to depend on someone else to take me as a favor. Than you very much to the underwriters of this wonderful program.”

To schedule a ride, a Senior or family member simply needs to call Envoy America at (602) 687-6345 and mention the Friedel Senior Rides Program or “Smile on Seniors.” Rides should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

For additional questions please contact Larry Clapick – Envoy America’s program coordinator at (602) 687-6345.
