Shabbat at Congregation Or Tzion is joyous, participatory and communal! Our Tefillot are accessible and filled with music, singing and lots of ruah!

We offer Shabbat services every Friday night and Saturday morning for all ages and in a variety of formats:

Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat Service — a musical, spiritually uplifting service led by Rabbi Caplan beginning at 5:30 pm wtih a light nosh followed by Kabbalat Shabbat from 6:00-7:00 pm.

Saturday morning Shabbat Service — led by Rabbi Caplan beginning at 9:30 am, followed by Kiddush.

Young Family Shabbat — the third Friday night each month at 5:45 pm for children up to age 6 and their families. Rabbi Caplan, along with other members of the congregation who are musically talented, enhance the service with ruah-filled song and dance. A light pizza dinner follows and the cost is free! Once a month, following Young Family Shabbat, we offer a monthly late Shabbat service, starting at 7:30 pm.

Parent & Tot Shabbat— September - April monthly program on Saturday morning for our youngest members, 0-4 years old.

B’nai Shabbat — Our monthly Shabbat morning Youth Service for kids between k - 5th grades, concurrent with the main service. Learn prayers and Torah in a fun environment with other kids.

Fresh Air Shabbat — Twice-a-year outdoor Shabbat Morning Services.

Simha Shabbat — All members having birthdays and anniversaries during the month are honored on the second Shabbat each month during both Friday and Saturday Shabbat services.

New Member Shabbat: Once a year, on Shabbat morning, we welcome our newest members with a gift of decorative Shabbat candles and a special blessing.

In addition,  join Rabbi Caplan for Torah Express — an opportunity to study the Torah portion of the week in depth following Kiddush and also for Kavana Kafe – a little “light learning” with a continental breakfast preceding Shabbat Morning Services once a month.

Please contact Rabbi Caplan if you would like to mark a special occasion with an aliyah or call the office if you wish to participate in the service in some other way.
