Custodian

As a custodian, you will be responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of our facility, including the kitchen area, restrooms, classrooms, social hall, and sanctuary. You will ensure that the premises are clean, safe, and welcoming to members, staff, and visitors. You will perform a variety of tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting, as well as performing light maintenance tasks and assisting with the setup and breakdown of events.

Estimated hours are an average of approximately 30 hours per week. We would consider a salaried or hourly compensation arrangement.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain assigned areas, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and emptying trash cans.
  • Sanitize restrooms, including cleaning and disinfecting toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors.
  • Keep kitchen area clean and organized, including cleaning the refrigerators.
  • Stock restrooms and other common areas with necessary supplies, such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, and reporting any maintenance issues to the office staff.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of events, including moving and arranging furniture, setting up tables and chairs, and cleaning up after the event.
  • Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment inventory and report any shortages or equipment malfunctions to the office staff.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills or accidents, and clean up accordingly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in custodial work is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices and procedures.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed.
